The Audi R8, yesterday.
About as emotional as an android’s dream, Autechre have long been the choice of headphoned graphic designers the world over. Using blips and static to create synaptic dream séances, their music is sparse, electronic, functional and very rarely frightening. In much the same way the R8 –in any guise- is purely a creature/product of design.
Hit the jump for a track from the band.
Meticulously mechanical and aloof -skipping a track on an Autechre album is like dropping a gear on the R8- nothing really changes when you hit the controls. Tracks and experience blend into one long digital landscape, which is occasionally beautiful, but almost always cold.
